Abigail Grubbs Yates was born to Annie Clara Grubbs and Jimmy C. Reynolds (deceased) in Louisville, Alabama. She was raised by her mother and stepfather, Earl H. Freeman, and he played a huge role in the raising of her.
She attended and graduated from Louisville High School.
At an early age, she confessed Christ and joined Mt. Nebo Baptist Church, where she remained until God called her home. She served faithfully as an usher.
Abigail was united in Holy Matrimony to Willie Charles Yates.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Willie Charles Yates; one brother: Charles “Bo” Grubbs; and four sisters: Kimberly Freeman, Teresa Sistruck, Darlene Reynolds, and Janice Reynolds.
She leaves to cherish her memories; three sons: Jonathan (Yolanda) Grubbs, Allen (Melissa) Yates, and Avis (Sonyate) Yates; a loving mother: Annie Clara Freeman and a grandmother Clara Grubbs; thirteen grandchildren; two brothers: Jason (Jamie) Grubbs and Billy Reynolds; one sister Marilyn (Bruce) Burks; she also leaves several brothers and sisters from her father’s family and a special adopted daughter Adrienne Johnson (Shae); in addition, she leaves a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, church members, family and friends.
