Alter was born in Eufaula, Alabama, to Alter Lee Sr. and Lillie Mae Harge. He loved spending time with family and fishing. He became a member of Temple of Restoration The House of Joy Church and rededicated his life to Jesus at that time.
He was preceded in death by: his wife: Shirley Glover Harge; one son: O.B. Harge; one great grandson: King-Amaru Tyriq Rogers; parents: Alter Lee & Lillie Mae Harge; one sister: Lillian Harge Denard; two nephews: Bill Denard, Jr. and Jerome Morris; one brother-in-law: Quincy Davis; and one sister-in-law: Barbara Ann Hawkins.
Alter leaves his precious memories with his: three children: Bobby (Mary) Hodge, Eddie (Pauline) Harge, and Janice Harge (Melvin) Brown; daughter-in-law: Shelia Harge: twelve grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; two sisters: Mary (Albert) Young and Bernice Merritt; one aunt: Annie Lois Allen; one sister-in-law: Mary (Ned) Davis; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
