Mr. James Arthur Belcher was born in Clio, Alabama, to the late Collis Belcher and Ethel B. McCray.
James confessed Christ as his Lord and Savior at Mount Zion AME Church in Louisville, Alabama.
James, affectionately called Belcher (Man), gained his wings on May 28th, 2022, holding the hand of his loving wife, Dorothy Belcher at Flowers Hospital in Dothan, Alabama.
He was preceded in death by; one sister: Annie M. Belcher and two brothers: Charles Belcher and Ben Davis.
Belcher’s memories of life will always be cherished by his devoted family and his friends who shared in his life. Belcher is survived by; his loving wife of thirty years, Mrs. Dorothy (Govan) Belcher; his children: Octavious A. Belcher (Navita) of Cypress, TX, Latasha Govan-Soro (Aboubakary)of Noblesville, IN, Marion Govan of Clio, AL, Daisquana Belcher of Huntsville, AL and Gena Govan (Robert) of Louisville, AL. Belcher leaves behind eight grandchildren whom he loved dearly: Asiana Belcher, Zeniya Soro, Nadia Soro, Aaliyah Soro, Kira Belcher, Asashia Burgess-Hill, Genrea McKinnes, Genknea McKinnes, and Jontez McKinnes. He also leaves behind two cherished great-grandchildren: Braylon Boykin and Ja’kyiah Cochran.
Belcher also leaves behind his beloved siblings: Ester Andrews of Albany, GA; Cinderella Shipman (Robert) of Groveland, FL; Locarrol Belcher (Odester)of Clayton, AL; Isom Belcher (Ruby Jean) of Louisville, AL; and Sammy D. Belcher (Geraldine) of Louisville, AL; Sister-in-law Elizabeth Wheeler. Belcher leaves behind a special sister and brother-in-law: Ms. Annie Mary Govan of Clio, Alabama and Abe Govan (Jewell) of Atlanta, GA.
James Arthur Belcher also leaves to cherish his memory a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
