Jimmy Lee Oliver

Bro. Jimmy Lee Oliver was the third child born to Will, Sr. and Marie Hicks Oliver in Eufaula, AL.

At an early age he confessed Christ and connected with Thankful Baptist Church.  He attended Van Buren Elementary School. He graduated from T.V. McCoo High School in 1959, and attended Alabama A&M University in Huntsville AL.  After moving into the area, he then joined Saint John AME Church, where he remained faithful until his health failed.  He served in many ministries of the church, such as Steward Board, Finance Committee, Men’s Sunday School Class, and a member of the Silver Edition Ministry.  He was a Mason with the St. Matthew Masonic Lodge.

Jimmy was active with the P.T.O. and was very instrumental in helping to build the Playground of Dreams, at that time Sanford Street Elementary School.  He had very good work ethics, and believed a man should work and take care of his family.  He retired from Louisiana Pacific, and worked part-time as a custodian for the Eufaula City School System.

Jimmy was joined in Holy Matrimony to Daisy T. Gant on June 30, 1984.  The Joys and Pleasures of his life were his parents, wife, siblings, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother: Frank Oliver and one son: Terance B. Oliver, whom he loved so dearly.

Jimmy Lee Oliver leaves to cherish his memories; a loving and devoted wife: Daisy T. Oliver of Eufaula, AL; four children: Natasha Northcutt of E. Chicago, IN, Juanita Marie Oliver of South Carolina, Scott Oliver of Middletown, CT; three step children: Jarret Gant, Jr. of Sanford FL, Terence Gant of Sanford, FL, and Shannon G Campbell of El Paso, TX; one adopted son/grandson: Jasmon Gant (Christina) of Eufaula, AL; one brother: Will Oliver, Jr. (Bettye) of Middletown, CT; three sisters: Mary H. Bradley, Lillie O. Pena of Middletown, CT, and Marie O. Brown (Willard) of Middlefield, CT; grandchildren: Leslie Oliver, Romel Oliver, Devante Campbell, Desmond Gant, Destiny Garrett and Jarret Gant III; God children: Tammi O. Brown, Lakia Slater, Jamelia McCarthy, Dominique & Terrell Brutley; great grandchildren: Kylan, Kaleb, Kota, Kali, and Miles; sisters-in-law: Liz Oliver, Dorothy Williams, and Rosa T. Brantley; like a daughter: Willette Garrett; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; special friends: Johnny & Elizabeth Knight, Evelyn Hollins, Lisa Johnson, Glenda Skipper, Nathan Fields and Jerry Bennett.
