Kim Polland Obituary

Kim Polland was born on June 12, 1976, to the union of Henry J. Burks and Gladys Coleman-Burks in Ozark Alabama. After graduating from East High School in Rochester, NY, Kim pursued her dreams in becoming a Registered Nurse. She obtained her Bachelors degree as a registered nurse and was on track to finishing her masters with a year left.  While still in high school, Kim worked at Wendy's restaurant where she met her husband (soulmate), Richard Polland of Rochester, NY. Together they raised four beautiful children which they cherish and loved dearly: Jessica, Javon’te, Da’shawn and Essence.

Kim loved spending time with family and was a true believer in helping others. Kim gave her life to Christ at a young age and a firm believer in the power of our Lord. She was a true Evangelist so much that she would go on missionary trips to Guatemala, Haiti, El Salvador, South America, and across the United States in helping spread  the gospel while providing medical aid to those in need. While stricken with a medical condition called Fibromyalgia, Kim was, at times, slowed down but not stopped by this ailment. She quickly adjusted her life and begin to blog about her trials & tribulations with Fibromyalgia and how it was not going to stop her, but make her stronger.  The passion for writing grew even stronger that Kim wrote her first novel Called “I Never Thought it Could Have Happened: Book One: The Sisterhood.” With the new passion and love of being an author Kim begin to broaden her horizons and begin to write screenplays which help opened doors to her acting career. Kim would play various roles in upcoming movies and receiving credits as well as obtaining great connections in the film industry.

Although Kim wore multiple hats of profession, nothing topped her love for spending time with our Heavenly Father and with her family. She would take time off work during the summer months to have her grandchildren come down and stay with her and her husband to help in providing loving and unforgettable times. This year Kim had the privilege in also getting to have one of her nieces come down to stay the summer as well.

Some of Kim’s hobbies and passions were skydiving, traveling, fishing, cooking, swimming, feeding the homeless and of course spreading the gospel. Kim’s favorite verse from the Bible was Philippians 4:13 which reads “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneths me.” This verse was something that was imprinted on her soul and her daily life.
