Thomas Glanton Obituary

Thomas Louis Glanton was born in Tuskegee, AL to the late Marie W. Thomas and T.B. Glanton. Thomas departed his earthly life on January 21, 2024, at Flowers Hospital surrounded by his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Marie W. Thomas and T.B. Glanton and his bonus father, Roosevelt Thomas.

Thomas was a member of Blue Springs Baptist Church where he served as a faithful deacon. He was also a faithful member of St. Joseph Lodge #444 as well as a faithful member of the Ladies Aid Society #72.

Thomas worked in the trucking industry and as a school bus driver for the Barbour County School System where he took pride in getting the students to and from school and games safely. Thomas retired from the Alabama Department of Transportation.

Thomas was a 1983 graduate of Louisville High School. Thomas married his high school sweetheart in 1984 and to their union, two children were born. He loved listening to music and most of all, spending time with his family. His grandchildren were his world and he enjoyed being involved in everything they were doing.

A loving husband, father, and PaPa, Thomas leaves behind his cherished wife of almost 40 years, Della Williams Glanton of Clio, AL; his two beloved children, Stephany (James) Marshall and Thomas Glanton, both of Ozark, AL.; his amazing grandchildren who added so much joy to his life,  Zymirria Glanton, Zyan Marshall, Taylor Glanton, Stori Marshall, Thomas Glanton, Jr., and Caiden Porter; loving sister, Tomie Glanton Hughes of Edwin, AL; loving brother, John L. Glanton of South Plainfield, NJ; loving bonus sisters, Brenda (Edward) Williams of Ozark, AL, Annette Smith, Ernestine Leggett, and Glenda Williams, all of Fort Pierce, FL; his beloved nieces and nephews whom he shared in raising, Josette Starks, Tiffany Boykin, Henry Eford, Anthony Rudolph, Antoinne Rudolph, and Xavier Styles; beloved in-laws, William M. (Pearline) Williams of Jacksonville, TX, Rosa Williams of Dothan, AL, and James and Zella Jackson of Kinsey, AL, Renee Williams-Dunigan of Hiram, GA, and Lisa Collins of Akron, OH; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
